Design

Arris SB6141 comes with built-in Gigabit Ethernet port, which gives you the freedom of using wireless networking without a router. One drawback of Arris SB6141 is that there is no power/reset button on the device. So, if you want to switch off Arris SB6141 then you have to manually unplug the device. The absence of a reset button is perhaps not a big deal, but still, it’s something to keep in mind when considering Arris SB6141.

DOCSIS Standard

Data Over Cable Interface Specification (DOCSIS) is another feature of Arris SB6141. DOCSIS basically designates the protocol that your cable provider uses to communicate to your modem and also provides you with internet access. Arris SB6141is integrated with DOCSIS 3.0 which is the current industry standard.

Performance

Arris SB6141 features 8×4 channel bonding, which is an advantageous selling point. Arris SB6141 contains 8 downstream channels, 4 upstream channels which is the reason behind the fastest possible download speed of 343 Mbps and an upload rate of 131 Mbps.

Temperature

Arris SB6141 comprises of a well-ventilated system, due to which average temperature of Arris SB6141 is 87.5 degrees Fahrenheit, which is quite low for modems similar to Arris SB6141. The low temperature means that Arris SB6141 consumes less power which ultimately saves you money and also increases the life span.

Construction

Arris SB6141 is built from industrial strength plastic. The strong construction of Arris SB6141 is very important, as the plastic secures the essential circuit board and processor inside. Arris SB6141 also contains indicator lights on the front.

What I like about this product

There are many great features of Arris SB6141 but the thing which I like the most about it is, simple set up. Arris SB6141 contains only three cables that are needed to be used, and they only fit in their specific locations. Secondly, Arris SB6141 provides a two-year warranty, which is more than enough time to heed any flaws in the product. Arris SB6141 cuts through the marketable noise and delivers a good quality of service at a very cheap price.

Pros of Arris SB6141

  • Compatibility with majority cable providers in the US.
  • High download speed (343 Mbps).
  • Speedy boot time (35.9 seconds).
  • Two-year warranty

Cons of Arris SB6141

  • Relatively expensive compared to other modems with similar attributes
  • Incompatibility with infamous cable providers.
  • Doesn’t feature a reset button
