Description

We are all familiar with the term welding. It is the process of joining metals to create a stronger material. There are different kinds of welding processes like Gas Welding, Arc Welding, Submerged Welding, etc. However, the underlying similarity is that all of them possess a high element of risk. Therefore, you need to be equipped with the right protection equipment. A good quality Welding Helmet is a must. In this article, we will be reviewing one of the best welding helmets available in the market, the Esab Halo Sentinel A50 Welder’s Helmet.

Streamlined Design

The streamlined design has a lot to do with the fact that this is one of the most comfortable welding helmets available in the market. On first look, you might feel a resemblance with the helmets in the Halo video game series. The viewing area of 100mm×60mm gives you a good idea of what is happening around. With a weight of just 1.4 pounds, the helmet does a good job in minimizing fatigue. The shell is made of high impact resistance nylon to provide durability to the product. The design is quite simple that you won’t even need a user manual.

Five-Point Headgear System

This five-point headgear can be adjusted to shift the weight of the helmet around. This helps in decreasing the pressure points thereby increasing the comfort level to the welder. This is quite significant especially for those projects that demand long hours. The helmet has around 500,000 possible contact point combinations which is much more than an ordinary welding helmet. With the help of the ratchet mechanism, users can make adjustments as per their choice.

Optical Clarity

Higher optical clarity rating gives better focus with low distortion and almost no clarity issues. The scale is graded from 1 to 3 with one at the top and three at the bottom. The optical class rating for this Helmet is 1/1/1/2 which means it is at the very top. ADF( Auto-Darkening Filter) can be adjusted from 5 to 13. This feature is similar in working to a polarized lens and is used to adjust the light sensitivity to work better in different settings. When the arc is inactive the shade is at level three or four. When the arc is struck, this instantaneously moves up to 7 or 8.

Helmet Settings

With the help of an external switch, welders can switch instantly to grind mode. The full-color LCD touch screen panel is also impressive. It provides eight different memory functions to save your preferences for welding programs. This can save you a lot of time in repetitive projects. The four senses engage in 1/25000 of a second after striking the arc, thus providing great responsiveness and protecting your eyes from the arc.
